Website costs

What does a website cost? Honest numbers.

Anything from €9 a month to €20,000. Here's what the four usual options cost, up front and over time, and what to watch out for.

Four options

What a website costs depends on who builds it

For a business there are essentially four options. The figures below come from public price overviews; sources are listed under each.

Freelancers and small agencies€1,500 to €3,000for a one-page website
Freelancers and small agencies€2,500 to €7,000for 5 to 12 pages
With mefrom €690Home page and up to 3 subpages; 5 to 10 pages from €1,140

All prices net (excl. VAT), one-off for building the site. Benchmarks from the guide „Was kostet eine Website?“ by the German agency ttz, October 2026. Hosting and maintenance come on top in each case; with me optional at €99 a month.

01

Website builder, do it yourself

from about €9 to €13 a month

Wix, Jimdo and co. Hosting and security certificate are included; you do the work yourself: texts, photos, structure, upkeep.

  • Good if you enjoy building and have time
  • You're tied to the provider
  • You have to get legal pages yourself
Sources: Wix blog (June 2026): premium plans from about €9 a month. stark.marketing: Jimdo from around €11, Wix from around €13 a month with annual payment.
02

Freelancer with a template

about €2,000 to €6,000 one-off

A ready-made template adapted to your logo and colours. Hosting and upkeep usually come on top.

  • Good if you want someone for questions
  • Price and quality vary a lot
  • Ask beforehand what later changes cost
Source: Take Off PR (July 2026): a template adapted to your branding realistically costs €2,000 to €6,000 one-off plus hosting.
03

Agency, custom

from about €8,000, often up to €20,000

A custom design, review rounds, usually several pages. Makes sense for bigger projects with a booking system, shop or many pages.

  • Good for large projects
  • Usually takes weeks to months
  • More than many businesses need
Source: website-tutor.com (February 2024): agencies start at around €8,000 and go up to €20,000 or more.
04

With me: Website Starter

from €690 one-off, care plan optional €99 a month

A home page and up to three subpages with everything a business needs, more on request. You see the finished draft before you decide, and you only pay once the site is online.

  • Booking tool, Instagram or menu and your legal pages built in
  • With care plan: monthly report, hosting, updates and changes on request, cancel monthly
  • Without care plan: handover on your web address, changes billed by effort
All prices and what's included are on the home page.

Calculate, don't guess

What does it cost after a few years?

The one-off price is only half the story. Move the slider and see what the four options cost over time. Calculated with the ranges above.

Running costs

What you pay for every month, whoever you choose

A website isn't finished once it's online. These items always come up. The only question is whether they're included or extra.

Domain

Your address on the internet, for example your-business.com. Has to be renewed every year.

Hosting

The server the site lives on. Without it, nobody can reach it.

SSL certificate

The padlock in the address bar. Without it, browsers warn your visitors.

Updates and backups

Tech gets old. If you do nothing, sooner or later you have a security hole or a broken site.

Legal pages

Legal notice and privacy policy must be correct and updated when laws change.

Small changes

New opening hours, new prices, a new photo. Sounds small, but costs time or money.

Before you sign

Five questions to ask every provider

Including me. The answers tell you more about the real costs than any one-off price.

  1. What does a change cost once the site is finished? Some offers are cheap because every little thing is charged extra later.
  2. How long am I tied in?Rental models without a one-off price in particular often have long minimum terms. Ask before you sign.
  3. Does the site work on phones? Many customers look for you on the go. Ask to see the site on a phone, not just on a screen.
  4. Are the legal notice and privacy policy included? If they're missing or wrong, you risk a legal warning.
  5. Can I see the result before I pay? With most providers you pay first and see later. With me it's the other way round.

For tradespeople

What does a website cost for a trade business?

Less than many think, if it sticks to the essentials. For most businesses one well-made page is enough, where customers find what they need within a minute:

What belongs on it

  • What you do, in plain words instead of jargon
  • Where you work, i.e. your service area
  • A phone number people can tap on their phone
  • Real photos of your work
  • Your Google reviews, so strangers trust you

What it usually doesn't need

  • Twenty pages nobody reads
  • A blog you don't have time for
  • Stock photos of smiling people in hard hats
  • A booking system when customers call anyway

Want to see how that looks for your business? I'll build you a draft without you paying anything first. What I do differently from a website builder is in the comparison.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Why are you so much cheaper than an agency?

Because there are no rounds of revisions and I work without an agency apparatus. I build the draft from what already exists about your business, and you decide afterwards. You can add the care plan for a fixed monthly price.

What costs extra?

Website Starter costs from €690 once, due when the site is online. The care plan at €99 a month is optional and can be cancelled monthly. You supply the legal notice and privacy policy, I build them in. Starter includes a home page and up to three subpages. Five to ten pages are available as Website Plus from €1,140; for more, I quote a fixed price in advance.

What does an online shop cost?

A Shopify shop with me starts at €790 one-off. More on the page Sell online.

Is a website worth it if I already have a Google profile?

The Google profile shows that you exist. The website shows why people should choose you: services, prices, photos, service area. Both together work best.

See first, then decide.

Tell me the name of your business. I'll build you a draft, and you only pay if you want it.
